These are very unique garden stakes because they can hold a hanging basket at the top while at the same time display a decorative magnet on the pole. You can purchase black metal silhouettes of images such as cats, dogs, and butterflies and attach these to a magnetic clip that you clip to the stake. Because these images are magnetic, you can easily attach and remove so you can have seasonal images or images specific to your own interest.
Made in the United States, the stakes are about 3 feet tall with a circle atop that holds a hanging basket. The stakes are powder coated, heavy duty, wrought iron, with a half-inch diameter. The hoop at the top is perfect for a 10-inch basket. These also elevate plants from rodents and pets and prevents damage from lawn care equipment.

Sharp’s at Waterford http://sharpfarm.com/
Sharp’s is an excellent source for seedlings of vegetables, tomatoes, and a wide variety of herbs. They sell seedlings in tiny “plug” size and smallish pots. Best selection of Rosemary I’ve seen anywhere — comparable to [the former] DeBaggio’s. Strawberry plants purchased there did very well.
While Sharp’s is in Howard County [not the Waterford in Virginia 🙂 ], it’s an easy drive from elsewhere. They also have events for children.

A very nice garden center, similar to the American Plant stores, though of course they aren’t identical.:) My impression is that they’re an excellent source for flowering plants and herbs … though I might go to Sharp’s for the best selection of herbs. I didn’t need shrubs or trees, so can’t comment about that.
Mom’s Organic Market carries herb plants, tomatoes, peppers, and veggies. So does Whole Foods. If you know when the plants arrive, you can get a good selection at a reasonable price.
I don’t know why I did not list those two places but thank you for reminding me. I will add them. Believe it or not I used to work at Sharp’s Farm and I have visited the Good Earth Garden Market many times.

Just fyi if you haven’t been to Sharp’s Farm in a while: they have graded or paved the farm road, so it’s now accessible to cars in addition to SUV’s. 🙂 Though I don’t own a car, Sharp’s Farm and Good Earth Garden Market are on my list of places to visit the next time I rent a car.
